Our Mission:

We exist to provide safety for all those affected by domestic violence and to and inspire hope for the future.

At the Mid-Minnesota Women's Center, we hope to see a day where the need for shelter does not exist because abuse no longer occurs, and seek to educate people so that we can approach that goal. However, until that day comes, we seek to remove violence from families in our communities by providing a safe space and support for those who find themselves in need of shelter.

The mission of the Women’s Center consists of two inextricably intertwined goals: to end violence against women and children and to work for fundamental social change that promotes equality for women and girls in society.  We plan to accomplish this mission through a variety of means including, but not limited to, the following:

Educate professionals and the general public about the causes of violence against women, with particular attention to battering and sexual assault/abuse.

Provide safe housing for battered women and their children as well as for victims/survivors of sexual assault when needed.

Promote non-violence through the education and skills building of elementary and secondary students.

Confront violence in all its forms including racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, antisemitism and homophobia.

Challenge the legal, law enforcement, medical, and social service systems to respond in helpful and humane ways to victims of violence.

The Mid-Minnesota Women's Center, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, since 1978.

Proiding safety and security from domestic violence and ending domestic violence is our mission.  Located in Brainerd, Minnesota, the Mid-Minnesota Women's Center, Inc., has two programs to prevent domestic violence and provide support and shelter to those families affected by domestic violence: a Women's Shelter and the Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center.
