The Women's Center's volunteers, ranging in age from 15 - 99, provided over 4,100 hours of services in 2008. They work in nearly all the areas in which we provide services, with the exception of crisis intervention and general advocacy. Following is a list of additional volunteer jobs that may be of interest to you:

 

 

 


Receptionist

If you like to interact with a large variety of interesting people and are friendly, patient, good at multi-tasking, and love talking on the phone, this is the volunteer job for you. Greet shelter residents and visitors, answer the door and telephone and take messages for staff. Court Advocates

Help women fill out Order for Protection forms and accompany them to court hearings to provide information and support.

 

At the Women's Center, we assist resident and non-resident women with filling out and filing Orders for Protection (OFPs) and Harassment Restraining Orders (HROs) with the court. Upon request, we also provide courtroom advocacy to women during hearings. 

 

 

 

 

Children's Mentor
This position will require you to relate well to young people of varying ages and backgrounds. Do you like spending time with children, playing games or doing crafts with them? Fundraiser
Invest in helping to end violence against women and children by joining one of three committees raising money through special events.  Enthusiastic, friendly, and skilled volunteers make it fun to be a member of these committees.  Or you might want to organize your own event to raise money for one of our programs.

 

 

 


Handyperson
Do minor repairs, perform monthly maintenance tasks, and/or assist with yard work.

 

 

 


Office Assistant
Photocopying, collating and stapling, word processing, or helping with our newsletter are just some of the possibilities.

 

 

 


Public Speaker
Spread the word about the Women's Center and the work we do at the shelter and child safety center to community organizations, professionals, church and school groups.

 

 

 


Transportation Assistant
Drive shelter residents and their children to and from other shelters or to appointments outside of our home county. You can also choose to help women move to new housing.
